Janie Faye Russell Sims of Jasper died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, May 26, at Jasper First Church of the Nazarene. Greg Story and Jerry Sims will officiate. The service will be live streamed on the internet at www.jsper1stnaz.com.

Janie was born May 20. The year is unknown to many and that would be her final wish. Even though she was battling a terminal illness, she never lost her enthusiasm for life or for her family. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for 32 years and impacted the lives of a tremendous number of people.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Roy Sims of Jasper; daughters, Jayna Sims and Ashley Sims, both of Jasper; sons, Matthew Sims and Stephen Sims, both of Jasper; sisters, Alice Oates (Aaron) of Dora and Patricia Baker of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Willie Russell (Anita) of Birmingham and Kenneth Russell (Eunice) of Dora; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and honorary family member Elise Lollar of Oakman.
