Janie was born May 20. The year is unknown to many and that would be her final wish. Even though she was battling a terminal illness, she never lost her enthusiasm for life or for her family. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene for 32 years and impacted the lives of a tremendous number of people.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Roy Sims of Jasper; daughters, Jayna Sims and Ashley Sims, both of Jasper; sons, Matthew Sims and Stephen Sims, both of Jasper; sisters, Alice Oates (Aaron) of Dora and Patricia Baker of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Willie Russell (Anita) of Birmingham and Kenneth Russell (Eunice) of Dora; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends and honorary family member Elise Lollar of Oakman.
