LYNN — After surviving a second-half scare, the Parrish Tornadoes beat Lynn for the first time since 2006, winning 44-31 in a region battle Friday night.

Parrish received the ball first, and after a long kickoff return, the Tornadoes turned the ball over on downs on the Lynn 38-yard line.

On a 2nd and 9 play from his own 48-yard line, Brody Meeks connected with Ben Cagle for a 52-yard touchdown pass to put the Bears on the board first. A failed 2 point conversion made the score 6-0.

On the ensuing drive, Parrish worked down the field until Jermichael Harris broke free for a 20-yard touchdown run. The failed 2-point conversion left the game tied at 6-6.

The first Parrish drive of the 2nd quarter saw Jermichael Harris complete two long passes, one for 44 yards and another for 27 yards and a touchdown. Jermichael Harris ran in the 2 point conversion, bringing their lead 14-6. Lynn answered quickly with Meeks hitting Cagle for a 39-yard pass to the 18-yard line. Two plays later, Meeks ran in from 17 yards out for a touchdown. A failed 2-point conversion left the score at 14-12. It only took Parrish three plays to answer, as Jermichael Harris busted open a 75-yard touchdown run. The 2-point conversion was no good.

On a 2nd and 3, Lynn's Dakota Bell fumbled the ball at the 39-yard line where Jermichael Harris picked it up and ran back for another Tornado touchdown. The extra point kick was missed, leaving the score 26-12. Meeks returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for a Bear touchdown, but the failed 2-point conversion left the score at 28-16. With 1:01 left in the half, Jermichael Harris hit Reginald Harris for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Another failed 2-point conversion made the halftime score 32-18.

Lynn quarterback Meeks left the game with a hand injury after a 20-yard run toward the end the first-half.

Lynn received the ball to start the half. Caleb Crowe, taking over for the injured Meeks, fumbled the ball away to Parrish's Brodrick Sanders. Reginald Harris would punch it in from 2 yards out, but the missed extra point left the score at 38-18. Lynn running back Bell took over on the next drive, running 80 yards on two plays for a touchdown. William Porter ran in the 2-point conversion cutting the lead 38-25 to end the 3rd quarter.

After stopping Parrish on a 4th and goal, Lynn took over on their own 19-yard line. On a 4th and 9 from the 33, Crowe hit Bell for 64 yards. Bell then ran it in from 3 yards out. The missed extra point made it a 7-point game with 6:15 to go. After forcing the Tornadoes into a three and out, Lynn muffed the punt and Parrish recovered on the Bears' 30 yard line. Jermichael Harris ran it in from there for a touchdown. The failed 2-point conversion made the score 44-31.

Lynn would drive down the field, but on a 4th and 6 from the Parrish 14-yard line, Crowe's pass fell incomplete to end the game.

Parrish's Jermichael Harris went 6 for 10 passing for 132 yards, 168 rushing yards, and six total touchdowns.

For Lynn, Meeks went 2 for 5 passing for 91 yards, 55 yards on the ground, and two touchdowns. Backup Crowe completed 6 passes for 95 yards. Bell rushed for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Lynn (4-4, 2-4) travels to Hubbertville next week.

Parrish (4-4, 2-4) hosts South Lamar.
