Jewel Cornelison Hopson, 88, of Carbon Hill, passed away on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Walker Rehab surrounded by loving family.

The family will receive friends today, Feb. 20, 2013, at 6 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Smith Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah (Virie) Posey Cornelison; father, Homer Carl Cornelison; beloved husband, Ettsel M. Hopson; beloved son, Gary Curtis Hopson (Donna); beloved grandson, Luke Dutton; son-in-law, Terry Clements; sisters, Ethel Nix of Adamsville, Leta Harbin of Carbon Hill; and brother, Earl Cornelison of Tampa, Fla.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Johnson (Buddy), Carolyn (the late Terry) Clements of Carbon Hill, Kathy (Marty) Elliott and Regina Anderton (Randy) of Boldo; sons, Terry Hopson (Teresa) of Carbon Hill, Keith Hopson of Jasper and Kenneth Hopson Walker Rehab in Carbon Hill; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was a founding member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Ripley Road in Carbon Hill and although she attended other churches in Georgia and Alabama, she never moved her membership from Trinity, where her parents are buried. She was loved by all who knew her. Special thanks to Walker Rehab Staff for their very compassionate care.
