John Daniel Lindsey, 89, of Bessemer, formerly of Boldo, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Golden Living Meadowood-Bessemer. He enjoyed square dancing, gospel singings, loved to cook, was fun-loving and always a big kidder. He loved his family and was always willing to help anyone in need. He taught his children many valuable lessons. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and many other medals and awards.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. today, Oct. 27, 2012, at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Kilgore-Green Chapel. Burial will follow at Portzer Family Cemetery. John Adams will officiate.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Estelle Lindsey; grandson, Wesley Gable; parents, Thomas and Bobbie Lindsey; and siblings, Cula, Eula, Paul, Hubert, Willie, LeRoy, Walter and Nellie.
