He was preceded in death by his mother, Dortha Lewis Herring; father, Tommy Herring; grandmother, Lilly Lewis; uncle, Benton Lewis; and nephew, Robert Jefferson.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Herring; sister, Elizabeth Walker; nephew, Josh Jefferson; nieces, Jennifer Walker and Rene (Josh) Sloan; mother-in-law, Faye Colburn; sister-in-law, Rita Cole; and brother-in-law, Daniel Cole.
