Joseph Robert “Joe Bob” O’Neil, 74, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, following a lengthy illness.

O’Neil grew up in Cordova. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was previously employed with the Birmingham City School System as a vocational coordinator. O’Neil was an avid Alabama football fan. He attended First United Methodist Church of Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Myrtle O’Neil; and his brother, John Thomas O’Neil. He is survived by his daughter, Dara Madison and her husband, Steven, of Sumiton; grandson, Kolbie Fuqua; brother, Tim O’Neil and his wife, Margaret, of Jasper; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends and relatives.

There will be a memorial service honoring the life of “Joe Bob” O’Neil on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 3 p.m. at the home of Tim and Margaret O’Neil at 92 Richardson Road in Jasper. Friends and relatives are invited to attend this time of rememberance.
