She was born in Oakman and graduated from Oakman High School. She was a former resident of Jasper and attended the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Richard Cain.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons; Larry Cain and his wife, Janice, of Lewisville, Texas, and Perry Cain and his wife, Judy, of Memphis, Tennessee; and a daughter, Carol Taylor and her husband, Don, of Columbus, Georgia. She also leaves a sister, Louise Lewis of Tucson, Arizona.
She had six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
Kathleen lived in a number of states and in several foreign countries with her husband who served in the military for 30 years. She worked in several Civil Service jobs through the years. Kathleen was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, supporting congregations wherever they were assigned. They loved the members of the 6th Avenue congregation.
The viewing will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home. This will be followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, a living memorial donation may be made to the Childhaven Children’s Home of Cullman, Alabama, or to the Monday Meals Ministry at Sixth Avenue Church of Christ. This ministry provides meals to shut-ins. Our parents were the recipients of their kind love and care.
