Lavon Wakefield, 75, of Jasper, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014, at his residence.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 16, 2014, from 1 until 2 p.m. in the parlor at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel with the Rev. Leonard Rigsby officiating.

Burial will be in the Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.

Lavon was born in Bremen, Alabama, on May 11, 1939. He retired with 55 years of service as an electrician from IBEW Local Union No. 136.

He was preceded in death by his father, Belton Wakefield; and two brothers, Roland Wakefield and Don Wakefield.

He is survived by his wife, Montez Rose Wakefield; daughter, Kaylyn Parker (Jerry); sons, LaDonn Wakefield (Lori), Brian Wakefield (Becky) and Stan Wakefield; mother, Blanche Wolfe Wakefield; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friends, Lindsey Thompson and the Rev. Leonard Rigsby.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Blake Kimbrell, Joe Neil Rose, Bruce Rose, Spencer Wakefield, Zackary Tyler Beaupre and Kirk Kimbrell.
