Lou Gurganus, 74, of Johnston City, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, in the Johnson City Medical Center in Johnston City, Tenn.

A native of Mitchell County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Glen and Della Francis. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Loyd and Loran “Dee” Gurganus; and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving are her sons, Kenny Loyd and his wife, Beckie, and Jimmy Loyd, all of Parrish; daughter, Beth Dodd of Hinesville, Ga.; sister, Linda Adkins of Pikeville, Ky.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at 8 p.m. in the Spring Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, N.C. The Rev. Robert McCury officiated. The family received friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Burial took place on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Francis Cemetery. Henline-Hughes Funeral Home assisted the Gurganus family.
