At Woodville, Meek is off to its first 2-0 start since 2006 after routing the Woodville Panthers 41-8 on the road Friday night.

The Tigers used their ground game to pull away from Woodville, which has won just five games since fielding its first football team in 2006.

Alex Smeraglia, who scored the game-winning touchdown against Appalachian in last week’s season opener, led the way with 95 yards and a touchdown on just five carries. Cameron Hallmark tallied 74 yards and a score on 13 carries and Seth Newton had 50 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Defensively, Hallmark had 10 tackles and two sacks, Shugg Sloan had five tackles, two for loss and one sack and Jentson Hiller picked off a pass.

Meek (2-0, 1-0) plays Sumiton Christian in a matchup of undefeated Class 1A teams.
