Meek playoff bound after big win

REMLAP — The Meek Tigers secured a playoff spot on Friday, beating Southeastern 53-0 on the road to end a four-game losing streak.

Meek takes fourth in the 1A, Region 6 standings behind Ragland, Addison and Falkville.

The Tigers (4-4, 3-3) are back in the postseason for the first time since 2003 and the team has matched its highest win total since 2008.

Against Southeastern, Cameron Hallmark, Brian Harrison, Jeremiah Banks, Ty Griffith, Dexter Woodard, Jentson Hiller and Eli Wilson all scored touchdowns for Meek.

Meek played its junior high team over the final two quarters. The game was also sped up with a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Southeastern is playing in its first year in the AHSAA.

The Tigers close region play at home against Shades Mountain Christian next week.
