That was Parrish’s philosophy Thursday evening against Dora and coach Chris Harris’ squad ran it to perfection.
The Tornadoes pushed across six runs in the first inning and rolled from there, blanking Dora 10-0 at Memorial Park in Jasper.
Parrish — ranked No. 6 in Class 1A — pounded out eight hits and stole seven bases on the day as the Tornadoes improved to 7-4 on the season.
Parrish’s first five hitters reached base and scored.
Savannah Jones walked to start the game for the Tornadoes. Taylor Winchester and Makenze Morgan followed with infield singles.
After Jones and Winchester scored on errors, Meleah Smith came through with an RBI double for a 3-0 lead. Jamie Beth Hocutt singled, driving in Smith. Hocutt scored Parrish’s fifth run on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Mekyah Hill walked and scored on an error for a 6-0 lead.
Jones opened the second inning with an infield single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Winchester’s fielder’s choice. With two outs, Smith reached on a walk, stole second base and scored on a throwing error for an 8-0 lead.
Parrish closed out the game early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Morgan and Hocutt both reached base and came around to score. Bailey Robinson had an RBI triple in the inning.
Hocutt earned the win, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings.
Parrish is scheduled to host No. 3 Sumiton Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Oak Grove 5, Carbon Hill 1
Oak Grove picked up an early area road win, knocking off the Bulldogs 5-1 at Carbon Hill High School on Thursday.
The Tigers broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the top of the third inning and never looked back. Carbon Hill scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Bulldogs were held to just three hits in the game. Caroline Dodd was 1 for 3 with a run, Tessa Ivey was 1 for 3 with a double and Katie Moore was 1 for 4.
Ansley Madison took the loss. She allowed five hits, four walks and five runs — four earned — while striking out eight in seven innings.
The last two games we have had no fire or energy. At this level you gotta bring it every day,” Carbon Hill coach Wade Tittle said.
Carbon Hill (7-4, 0-1) plays in the Hamilton Aggie Classic beginning today. The Bulldogs face Muscle Shoals in the opener.
Meek 12, Falkville 9, nine innings
Meek stayed perfect in area play, beating Falkville 12-9 in a nine-inning slugfest Thursday night at Falkville.
The Tigers (5-5 overall, 3-0 in area play) host Decatur Heritage on Tuesday in another area matchup.
Dora 9, Parrish 0, three innings
Dora’s JV team moved to 3-0 on the season with a 9-0 win over Parrish at Memorial Park.
Lexi McLeroy got the start and the win for the Bulldogs, striking out three while allowing no hits.
At the plate, Divia Rhodes went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Lexi McLeroy went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Madison Hargrove went 3 for 3 with one RBI.
Dora plays again Saturday in the Cordova JV Tournament starting with Sumiton Christian at 9 a.m. Dora also faces Cordova at 10:20 a.m. and Curry at 2:20 p.m.
