Oak Grove tops Carbon Hill in battle of winless teams

Oak Grove had no trouble winning a battle of winless teams on Friday, handing the Carbon Hill Bulldogs a 48-16 road loss.

The Tigers took control from the start, scoring 14 points on their first two possessions.

Carbon Hill’s made miscues on each of its first two possesssion, throwing an interception and fumbling the ball away. Oak Grove turned both mistakes into touchdowns en route to a 35-0 halftime lead.

The Bulldogs got a pair of second-half touchdowns. Stevie Simerly scored the first touchdown on a short run. Daniel Woodard hit Larry Hunter for a five-yard strike for the second score.

Carbon Hill (0-4, 0-3) goes out of the region this week to take on Winston County on the road. The Bulldogs knocked off the Yellow Jackets last year for one of their two wins.
