When candidates for November’s general election were certified by Alabama Secretary of State Beth Chapman Friday, Odom was left unopposed.
“When I found out, I was very excited,” Odom said.
Odom, a Republican, was originally scheduled to run against Democrat Brianna White in November. White withdrew her candidacy and was replaced on the ballot by Carol Myrick after a vote of the State Democratic Executive Committee on April 14.
According to documents filed with the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office last week, Myrick withdrew from the election on Wednesday.
Odom said despite questions about her opponents she has continued to campaign.
“I actually enjoy getting out and seeing everybody,” she said. “I am as dedicated as always to serve the people of Walker County, and I’m thankful to have my job. I will continue to work hard for everybody, because I feel truly blessed to be Walker County’s circuit clerk.”
The general election is set for Nov. 6. Other local candidates certified by Chapman include:
