Byars & Associates Insurance, which was founded in 1946 by G.L. Byars, is now known as Byars-Wright Insurance. Workers from Knight Sign Industries in Tuscaloosa were in Jasper Wednesday changing the sign in front of the business offices on Fourth Avenue in downtown Jasper.
Haig Wright, president of Byars-Wright, said the transition for the company has been seamless and customers should notice no major changes.
“While our name has slightly changed, our people and our commitment to providing superior customer service remains the same,” a letter sent to existing customers said. “We will continue to strive for our vision of becoming the best insurance agency in the South by operating on our core values of trust, honest and always doing what is right.”
The company has operated as Byars and Associates since 1990 when Byars Insurance Agency merged with Primm-Wright Insurance Agency.
“We’ve had some ownership changes recently, and we’re expanding,” Wright said this week. “Our business has been blessed with good growth and we’re going into other markets, and we thought it was time to freshen up our brand with a name change, along with a new logo design.”
Wright said customers will only notice a change in the name of the company, not in the services provided.
“The only thing changing is our name,” he said, “and the look. Our people are the same, as is our commitment to serving our clients. That is as strong as it has ever been.”
Wright stressed that Steve Byars, whose dad founded Byars Insurance in 1946, remains with the company, as do many longtime employees.
“Although the ownership has changed, nothing else has,” he said. “Everybody is still working in their same capacity as they were before.”
The owners of the company include Wright, Andy Byars, John Byars, Skip Roberts and Joe Nichols.
Wright said the company’s website — www.byarswright.com — has been revamped, and customers’ reporting capabilities have expanded.
“Our slogan is ‘Where Relationships Matter,’ and we don’t take that lightly,” Wright said. “We’ve always operated on our core values of trust, honesty and doing what’s right, and we will continue to uphold those values.
“We believe our new look is a nod to our celebrated history while looking to a bright future.”
Wright said like any business that’s been around for more than 50 years, changes are inevitable.
“As long as your core values remain the same, you have a stable business,” he said.
