Events like the recently held Hillfest in Carbon Hill and the upcoming Frog Festival in Sumiton have quickly become popular with Walker County residents.

Hillfest has brought out thousands of people in its three years, and the Frog Festival is averaging more than 5,000 people in its six years of existence.

The events are designed to bring the community together to celebrate each city. They typically are highlighted by great music, good food and a variety of unusual vendors. These events add to the quality of life in our county.

While other cities in the area have attempted similar festivals, none have been as successful as Sumiton and Carbon Hill. The credit for the success of the Frog Festival and Hillfest has to go to the volunteers who organize those events.

The planning of these major events is an almost year-round task. There are so many factors, from small details to major project, that have to be taken care of long before the festivals begin.

Between the work of the volunteers and the support of the cities, Hillfest and the Frog Festival have become great events that bring many people to Walker County each year. The Daily Mountain Eagle would like to congratulate Sumiton and Carbon Hill for promoting tourism to our area, and we would like to thank the volunteers who do most of the work.
