Preston Timmons, 92, of Jasper, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. He was born on Nov. 18, 1920. To the public, he was known as the voice of WARF's gospel hour for many years. To Eastside Baptist Church, he was known as the faithful member and to his family, he was simply, Paw-paw, a man with a great sense of humor and a love for his family. His grandchildren will always remember his love for them, his love of music, and his joking spirit. He made a living by being a carpenter, brick mason, and manufactured homes dealer, but he made a life by being a joy to be around. Special thanks to Lakewood Senior Living for their care for "Pops" and to the many people that have ministered to our family during his journey through the various stages of dementia.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Funeral Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Collins-Burke Funeral Home will direct.

Timmons was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Lee Camp Timmons; parents, William Bryan Timmons and Louella Maybell Hicks Timmons; and brother, Hoyt Timmons.

He is survived by his daughter, Ann Cochran and her husband, Freeman, of Curry; son, Joe Timmons and his wife, Denise, of Jasper; sister, Willodean Edgil of Townley; special niece, Suzette Timmons Mitchell of Rome, Ga.; grandsons, Jeff Redmill, Chris Cochran, Matt Redmill and Will Timmons; and three great-grandchildren.
