R.V. Harris, 85, of Sipsey, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Cordova Health and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Bell Sumiton Chapel with burial in Rice’s Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Phillip Starnes and the Rev. Patrick Watson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 13, 2012, at the funeral home.

Mr. Harris was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Bremen, the Walker County Rescue Squad, and was a World War II veteran. He loved to fish and was an avid Alabama football fan. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Earl and Alvin Starnes Harris; brothers, Jimmy Ray Harris and J.D. Harris; and sister, Verla Allen.

Survivors include his brother, Winford Harris of Texas; sister, Louise Youngblood and her husband, Jack, of Trafford; sister-in-law, Clara Harris of Sipsey; nieces and nephews, Bo Allen and his wife, Marie, Sue Robbins, Shirley Ratcliff, Jerry “Jughead” Allen and his wife, Rhonda, Sandra Dill and her husband, Marshall, David Allen, Diane Cannon and her husband, Bill, Melissa Brasfield and her husband, Rex, Bubba Harris and his wife, Charlene, and Mark Youngblood and his wife, Sandi; and a host of other relatives and friends.
