Ivey was born in Birmingham. He graduated from Walker County High School in Jasper in 1932 and Georgia Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1939 and attended the University of Michigan for his MBA. Ivey served in the Ordinance Corps of the U.S. Army in both Europe and the Pacific during WWII, at the Pentagon, Picatinny Arsenal in Korea and Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, where he retired in 1969. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Clare Billman.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Stephenson Drewry; daughter, Victoria Davis; and son, Ivey Drewry III, all of Huntsville; and daughter, Merry Butler of Aiken, S.C.; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Maple Hill.
