He was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel in Dora. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery. Rev. Earl Wright will officiate.
Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Payne and Kathleen Bankston Payne; grandaughter, Bridgett Harris; great-grandson, Ayrian Page; and daughter, Angel Payne.
His survivors include his wife, Doris Ann Payne; his son, Richard Allen Payne Jr.; sister, Diane Jones (James); brothers, Bobby Payne (Judy), Robert Eadie Jr. (Deborah), Stephen Payne (Renae), Mark Payne (Karen), and David Payne (Cynthia); and several nieces and nephews.
