CORDOVA — The Cordova City Council held a special called meeting Tuesday night to certify the results from the Aug. 28 municipal election.

The final vote tally in the mayor’s race is 283 votes for Drew Gilbert, 161 for Jack Scott and 130 for Randy Fielding.

Gilbert and Scott will meet in a runoff on Tuesday, Oct. 9 because neither received a majority of the votes.

Gilbert picked up one hand-counted vote from the unofficial results released last Tuesday, and one provisional ballot added to the final total was awarded to Fielding.

A runoff between Stephen Tidwell and incumbent Paul Lawson will also be necessary for the District 5 council seat.

The final tally in that race is 31 for Tidwell, 28 for Lawson and 24 for Jimmy Kelly.

Warren Branch and James ‘J.J.’ Johnson were declared duly elected Tuesday night to their seats in districts 1 and 6, respectively.
