The cost to attend is $200 per camper. Scholarships are available through the United Way of Central Alabama and The Salvation Army.
Local Salvation Army director Lona Courington said eight children from Walker County attended Camp Hidden Lake last year, and she plans to send 10 kids this summer.
She added that scholarships cover everything required for the trip, including physical exams, gear, snacks and meals to and from camp.
“There should be absolutely no expense to the parent unless he or she chooses to pay,” Courington said.
The camp will be held July 23 through 27 in Lexington, Miss.
Some of the activities offered include morning Bible lessons, swimming, fishing, hiking, ropes course, high wall, putt-putt, archery and crafts.
Camp Hidden Lake opened in 1986 and serves children and teens from Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana.
