Walker County Springfest, taking place Tuesday through Saturday at the old airport, will include those activities and many more, according to organizers of the event.
Tom Pearson, founder of Walker County Springfest, said this will be the largest event he has produced.
“Jasper is where we started our fairs a few years ago,” he said. “We weren’t here last year, so we wanted to come back with the biggest and best event we could do.”
The event will include what Pearson calls an “ultimate fair” with more than 25 rides as well as games and 10 food vendors. There will also be a midway circus with two shows nightly, 7:30 and 9 p.m. The circus includes several former Ringling Brothers performers as well as a Spiderman aerial stunt show and a motorcycle daredevil globe of death. A sideshow will also be a feature of the Walker County Springfest, and Pearson said it would include the world’s smallest horse and largest pig, among others attractions.
Southeastern Pro Wrestling will bring its athletes to battle on the midway with shows at 7:30 on Friday night and 7 p.m. Saturday. Wrestlers will include “Action” Mike Jackson, Johnny Swinger, Ultimate Dragon, Bubba Cagle and many more. The Saturday night wrestling show will include Jasper’s first ever cage match.
Gate admission is $2 per person with children under 3 admitted for free. On Tuesday and Wednesday, gate admission is buy one, get one free. Pearson said gate admission is good for midway attractions such as the circus and professional wrestling but additional tickets or armbands must be purchased for rides. There is no charge for parking and gates open at 6 p.m. each day.
“We are happy to be back in Walker County, and we promise to have a family-friendly show that people will love,” Pearson said.
