Students at Bankhead Middle School are drawing inspiration to do well on an important standardized test next week from a surprising source — the cast of “Duck Dynasty.”

Counselor Christie Waldon said the school traditionally chooses a theme going into the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test Plus. This year’s is “What’s Your Dynasty?”

“We chose this theme to encourage our students and to remind them that BMS always does well on testing and to continue our ‘Dynasty’ with good test scores again this year,” Waldon said.

The week’s activites included a bulletin board contest and penny drop. Students also donned the cast’s signature camaflouge and beards and competed for best dressed boy/girl awards.

Faculty members got in on the fun Friday during a “Duck Dynasty” pep rally.

One teacher from each grade served as sitting ducks while four teams of students pelted them with tennis balls.

The Duck Commanders themsleves also made a guest appearance thanks to other staff members.

“This has been a motivational and fun week planned to encourage our students to do their best. According to Si Robertson, ‘We'll do our best! That's a fact, Jack!’” Waldon said.
