Zombies invading Jasper’s downtown have drawn national attention from the Syfy Network. The network announced this week that it will be filming a comedic docuseries surrounding the filming of the independent zombie movie, “Thr33 Days Dead.”

Tina Teeter, executive producer for the project, said they have been working on the movie for approximately six years. She said the extended production time has led many people to believe the project has been abandoned., although she said nothing could be further from the truth.

“We aren’t really dead, we just play dead,” she joked.

The unscripted docuseries will be titled “Town of the Living Dead” and will chronicle the filmmakers’ push to finish the movie about a group surviving the zombie apocalypse in Jasper. The project has already filmed a number of scenes involving hundreds of local extras over the last few years, but Teeter said there are many more scenes planned, including some special effects and stunt work.

The docuseries is slated to begin airing on Oct. 7 at 9 p.m.

Producers and crew members for the show will begin arriving in Jasper today and will begin shooting within the next week. Shooting for the series is expected to take three months.
