For the second time this week, rain played a factor in the Walker County Baseball Tournament.

Thursday’s game were rained out, leaving all six county teams to play two games today. Earlier in the week, Monday’s games were rained out, leading to make-up games on Wednesday.

Both Dora and Oakman enter today’s games with perfect 3-0 records in the county tournament. Cordova is one game back at 2-1. Curry is 1-2 and both Carbon Hill and Parrish are 0-3 in tournament play.

Dora has defeated Cordova (3-2, 8 innings), Carbon Hill (10-5) and Parrish (10-0, 5 innings) while Oakman has beaten Carbon Hill (5-2), Parrish (10-1) and Curry (4-3).

Cordova has scored the most runs in the tournament — 26, including 24 in the last two games.

Three games will start at 1:30 p.m. today: Oakman vs. Cordova, Dora at Curry and Carbon Hill at Parrish.

Cordova has a chance to draw even with Oakman — and earn the tie-breaker over the Wildcats.

In the late games — tentatively set for 4:30 p.m. — Cordova plays at Parrish, Dora travels to Oakman and Curry plays at Carbon Hill.

The games at Curry and Parrish will depend on the condition of the baseball fields on Friday morning. Both games could be moved to the opposing teams’ fields.

Three games are set for Dora High School on Saturday with the fifth-place game scheduled for 11 a.m. followed by the third-place game at 1:30 p.m. and the championship game at 4 p.m.

Curry defeated Oakman in last year’s championship game.
