Bevill - Schum
Miss Ashlon McGee Bevill and Mr. Kenji Reilly Schum were united in marriage on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at seven o'clock in the evening at Birmingham Botanical Gardens with the Rev. Charles Betts, Sr., (great-uncle of the bride) officiating the ceremony. Music was provided by Marsha Gunter, harpist.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bevill of Jasper. She is the granddaughter of the late Congressman and Mrs. Tom Bevill of Jasper and Mr. James Luther Hendrix and Mrs. Kathryn Patton of Rainsville.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Reilly Schum of Madison. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Reilly Schum of Hamilton, Ohio and Mr. and Mrs. Takayoshi Morimoto of Hyohoken, Japan.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a strapless, soft folded ball gown of chiffon with a silk tulle chapel-length veil. The bridal accessories, a gift from the groom, were a necklace, earrings and hair comb of Swarovski crystal and pearls. The bride also wore an antique hair comb belonging to her maternal great-grandmother. The bridal bouquet was a topiary of various shades of pink peonies and roses accentuated with pearls.
The bride was attended by Nicole Browand of Brooklyn, New York and Shayna Chambless of Birmingham, sisters of the bride as Matrons of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mary Paty Bryant and Taylor Wyatt of Birmingham and Elizabeth Taheri of Rainsville. Scripture Readers were Meagan McGee of San Destin, FL and Kathryn Rothell of Birmingham, nieces of the bride. Flower girls were Camilla Browand of Brooklyn, New York, Abigail McGee of Jasper and Julia Chambless of Birmingham, nieces of the bride.
Matthew Shelton of Madison served the groom as best man. Groomsmen were Eric McGee, brother of the bride, of Jasper, Nathaniel Browand of Brooklyn, New York, brother-in-law of the bride, Kirby Russell of London, England and Jared Currey of Denver, Colo. George Chambless of Birmingham and Aydan McGee of Jasper, nephews of the bride, served as ring bearers.
After a honeymoon trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Birmingham.
Rider - McGaughy
Alyssa McGaughy announces the engagement of her parents, Megan Michelle Rider and Jared Landon McGaughy, both of Jasper.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Charles and Pat Rider, the late Tim Rider, and Kim Martin, all of Jasper. She is the great-granddaughter of the late Rev. R.L. and Maudie Rider of Jasper.
The prospective groom is the son of Gary and Jackie McGaughy of Jasper. He is the grandson of Dean McGaughy of Jasper, and the late Emois McGaughy.
The wedding will be Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at 4 p.m. at the Sanctuary Church of God on Fall City Road in Jasper.
