Burton-Rasco

Amber Renee Burton and James William Rasco were united in marriage March 15, 2014, at 5 p.m. at Palisades Church of Christ in Birmingham. Wes Gunn, brother-in-law of the groom, officiated the double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Carl Burton of Nauvoo. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Burton of Jasper and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lester Frawley of Florence.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Wayne Bezelle Rasco and the late Mr. Wayne Bezelle Rasco of Columbiana. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Guzma Rasco of Columbiana and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hicks of Gadsden.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal A-line gown of lace organza. The gown, by Kenneth Winston, featured a sweetheart neckline with scalloped edged lace straps. The waist was embellished with glittering beaded details. Lace appliqués formed a keyhole back. Her two- tier veil was edged in Alencon lace and embellished with tiny Swarovski crystals. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, hot pink peonies and hypericum berries hand tied with ivory ribbon.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was Mrs. Leslie Smith Norris, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Kristie King Estelle, Miss Celeste Gill, Miss Lora Leigh Griggs, Mrs. Amanda Rasco Gunn, sister of the groom, Mrs. Gabriela Lopez Johnson, Mrs. Rebecca Barnhill Little and Mrs. Courtney Frawley Mumbower, cousin of the bride. Flower girl was Miss Lilly Gunn, niece of the groom. Dr. Rebekah Smith Savage was registry hostess.

Best man was Mr. Bobby Frye, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were Dr. Landon Argo, Mr. Drew Bullington, Mr. Wes Christie, Mr. Kevin Farrar, Mr. John Hicks, cousin of the groom, Mr. Bill McMillan and Mr. Jonathan Newby. The ring bearer was Mr. Taylor Gunn, nephew of the groom.

Music was provided by Lindsey Walker and Johnathan Player. Rachael Grammer served as wedding director.

Following the wedding ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Club in Birmingham. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the mother of the groom along with his sister and her family at Park Lane in Mountain Brook.

After their wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple now resides in Birmingham.

Engagements

Emberg-Brasell

Donald and Shirley Emberg of Nauvoo announce the engagement of their daughter, Chelsea Jo Emberg, of Nauvoo, to Michael Lance Brasell of Camden, the son of Richard and Mary Ann Wright of Camden and Mike and Elesia Brasell of Beatrice.

The bride-elect attends the University of Alabama and will graduate in May 2014 with a master’s degree in social work.

The prospective groom attended the University of Alabama and graduated with a bachelor of arts in criminal justice. He is employed with the Camden Police Department.

The couple’s wedding will take place Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 3 p.m. Formal invitations are being sent.
