If you look at what the Bible says about heaven, you will find that it will be a place of worship and wonder! Think about your relationship with the Lord. When you are in heaven the deepest love relationship with the Lord will be realized. Also, we will be with other believers who will have perfect fellowship with us for eternity. Just think, we will have deep, open, honest relationships with others without the stain of sin.
If you are like me, you will have many questions you want to ask the Lord. When you are in heaven, you will have eternity to spend time with Him and find the answers to these questions.
We will also enjoy our resurrected bodies. When we go to heaven, we will have new bodies. These bodies will be perfect. They will not be wracked with disease or disfigurement. No more pain or suffering. We will have a body that will not decay, will not grow old, and will not die. I am looking forward to that kind of body! Some of my friends who have had brain damage or severe handicaps will be whole. They will be perfect. Seeing my friends who professed Jesus as Lord and later passed away will be a true joy. In heaven there will be no more birth defects or diseases. When I see my dad, he will be able to hear and he will not have to take all his medication.
Jesus teaches us that our unique personalities will be with us in heaven. We were created that way and when we get to glory we will have our same personalities only they will be perfect. Our friends and family will be able to recognize us.
I look forward to living in heaven where there is no sin, no suffering, and no war. We live in a world that is filled with all of these things and more. There is pain, racism, hatreds of all kinds. We live in a world where murder is rampant. Cruelty is a way of life and pain and suffering are constants for many. When Christ returns there will be no more of this. He will take down evil and death will be no more. There will be eternal peace in the presence of the Lord.
There will be more to do in heaven than playing harps and singing hymns. We will be busy serving the Lord and each other for eternity. There will be much to do and we won’t be hindered by selfishness or laziness, or pain, or suffering, or apathy, or indifference. In heaven we will know the excitement of worshipping and serving God and working and playing with each other for ever.
Heaven will be so wonderful, we can’t even imagine. No writer does it justice. The apostle John had a vision of heaven and it was hard for him to put it into words. He describes a city of gold with walls made of precious stones. The gates of the city are made of pearls and the streets are paved with gold. We can only imagine!
Paul tells us, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Cor. 2:9). There is no way we can conceive the realities of heaven while we are trapped in our earthly bodies, but we can count on this, it will not be boring! We will be living where God intended us to live – a place of peace and joy where we honor our Savior and Lord. I can’t wait, can you?
