William Earl Lovelady, 71, of Dora, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014. He was born June 16, 1942, in Pletcher in Chilton County.

William loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was proud of them all and their accomplishments. He was looking forward to Monday night and watching his grandson play in and win the BCS National Championship at the Rose Bowl for Florida State University.

He was a former Figure 8 champion at Sayre Speedway in the 1980’s. He was a NASCAR fan. He had pride in his job as an auto body repair technician from which he retired in 2012, but retirement was not for him, because he had to stay busy, so he would go to a friend’s shop and “help out.” He loved seeing Don and spending time with him each day.

Visitation will be today, Jan. 9, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Bryan Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Luvella Crocker Lovelady; his sister, Clarine Dobbs; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Sybil Earley.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marilyn Earley Lovelady; sons, Randall Lovelady of Dora and Glenn Lovelady (Suzanne) of Port Orange, Fla.; daughter, Kimberlea Lovelady of Dora; grandchildren, Sean and Cody Bittle, Ashley Creel and Jessica Stephanie, Chad and Sterling Lovelady; great-granddaughter, Brylee Bittle; sister, Elaine Akins (James); brother, James Lovelady Jr. (Jannie); nieces, Sonya, Julie, Debbie, Sarah, Peggy and Mattie; nephews, William L., James, Tommy and Allen; eight great-nieces; 12 great-nephews; and many great-great- nieces and nephews.
