Faye is the daughter of Stella McDonald and John Walker and attended Dora Elementary School with her dear friend, Janice Bennett. She was active in church and the local community. She later moved to Carbon Hill where she attended Elm Grove Church of God and became lifelong friends with Virginia and Alfred Early. She worked at Britling’s restaurant in Birmingham and at the Winfield Cotton Mill. During the late 90's, Faye moved to Sacramento, Calif., where she enjoyed sightseeing and adventure.
In January 2007, she relocated to McKinney, Texas, where she met her dear friend, Mary Hughes. She returned to Nauvoo to live with her son, Wesley, in May 2012. Faye is the widow of the late Clarence Monroe Davis and will always remain in the hearts of her sons, Steve of Plano, Texas and Wesley of Nauvoo.
Faye is lovingly remembered by her daughters-in-law, Lourdes Gomez of Sacramento, Calif., Cyndi Davis of Plano, Texas, and Sheila Davis of Nauvoo; granddaughters, Crystal Davis of Plano, Stephanie and Sarah Eldridge of Sacramento, and Elizabeth of Nauvoo; grandsons, Johnathan Davis of Sacramento, Nathaniel and Nicholas Davis of Jasper and CJ of Nauvoo; great-grandson Alajandro Jimenez (AJ) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and great-granddaughter, Lexi, of Plano.
She is survived by her sister, Vera (Tiny) Vinson; and nieces, Sandy and Glenda; nephews, Jimmy Walker, Gene Elrod, Larry Elrod, Jacky and Danny Vinson.
Visitation was held at the Elm Grove Church of God on Fish Hatchery Road in Carbon Hill Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 4 p.m. until midnight. Funeral services will be held today, Jan. 22, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Elm Grove with eulogy by Lynell Early and the Rev. Bill Feltman officiating. A brief graveside service will be held prior to interment at Carbon Hill Memorial Cemetery.
