When Jennifer Pollard of Winfield put her name on some contest slips and dropped them in the mail to enter a nationwide Father’s Day Sweepstakes sponsored in June by Team IZOD, Honda and Belk, she never dreamed she would be the one driving home with a new car a little more than a month later.

Friday morning, Brian Key, manager of Belk located in Jasper Mall, presented Pollard with the keys to her new 2013 Honda CR-V and a check for $5,000 to help pay the tag and taxes on the car.

“I still can’t believe it, they called me on July 2 to say I had won, and I immediately went to screaming and jumping around,” Pollard said. “I was at a get-together with several of my family members when the call came in and they all thought I had gone crazy.”

Pollard said her niece even videotaped her celebratory dance, she also thanked her mother-in-law, Grace Pollard, for picking up some of the entry forms at a Belk’s Store and bringing them home.

“She had brought home several of the entry forms home with her after shopping at Belk, and me and my husband, Chris, filled out about five a piece I guess,” Pollard said. “Then we randomly mailed them in at different times during the contest,” Pollard said. “I still can’t believe I won. It doesn’t seem real.”

The manager of the Jasper Belk store was also excited, and said he was glad someone this area actually won the contest.

“This was a nationwide contest, which was sponsored by Team IZOD, Honda, and Belk, so the fact we had someone from our area win is very exciting,” Key said. “It just goes to show, you never know what can happen.”
