CORDOVA — A team of law enforcement officials arrested 11 people on drug charges in Cordova Tuesday morning. A juvenile was also arrested after punching an officer in the face.

Members of the Cordova Police Department, Dora Police Department and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s SWAT team executed search warrants at four residences between 8 and 9 a.m.

A SWAT officer received minor injuries when a 16-year-old juvenile punched him in the face shortly after the team entered a residence on Jones Street, according to Cordova Police Chief Nick Smith. The juvenile will be charged with assault of an officer.

Walter Mickle Jr., 44, of Sumiton, was charged with distribution of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.

Dominique Currington, 27, of Decatur, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for domestic violence but was also charged with distribution of a controlled substance. Currington, who was out on bond for chemical endangerment of a minor, will be taken to the Walker County Jail once he makes bond, according to Smith.

Gary Moncrief, 47; Ricky Freeman, 53, and Larry Cox, 32, all of 56 Jones Street in Cordova, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Freeman will be facing felony charges, according to Smith.

Colton Mullinax, 27, of 9 Annes Street in Cordova, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Randall Stone, 45, of 14 Barton Street in Cordova, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

He will also be facing distribution charges, according to Smith.

Martisha Cotrell, 39, Mandy Hanson 38, and Makenzie Cotrell, 18, all of 16 Jones St. in Cordova, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Andrew Lowery of 149 Hill Street in Cordova was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and felony distribution of a controlled substance.

Smith said that he and Officer Krimson Culverson completed a narcotics investigation over the weekend after several residents notified the department of suspected drug activity.
