Prep Basketball: Curry girls move to 4-0 in area

Bevill State won its second conference game of the season on Monday night, earning an 84-80 victory at Gadsden State.
Walter Garfield made a lay up with 20 seconds remaining to secure the win for Bevill State. 
Nelson Haskin and Latrell Tate paced the Bears (8-7 overall, 2-0 in the Alabama Community College Conference). 
Haskin had 20 points, 16 rebounds, five blocks and three steals for the Bears, who led 43-38 at the half, while Tate had 29 points and four steals. Korri Edwards added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Grant Perry made three 3-pointers and finished with nine points. Garfield and Javon Duncan combined for 16 assists. 
The Cardinals fell to 12-5, 0-2.
Bevill State hosts Southern Union at 7 p.m. on Thursday in another conference matchup.

Curry 60, Cordova 38
Curry bounced back from a rare home loss last week with a dominant performance Monday against area foe Cordova.
The Yellow Jackets scored 22 points in the first quarter en route to a 60-38 home win.
Curry’s Cam Wright made five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points, Abbey Moon had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Emma Martin had 10 points, Anna Reese Woodley added eight points and Allie Downs added five.
Curry (15-4, 4-0) led 40-18 at the half and 59-29 after three quarters. 
For Cordova, BG Braswell had 13 points and Mackenzie Boteler added 11. 
Curry plays at Fayette County on Friday.
