Carmen Alphonso Nicholson passed peacefully after 72 years on this earth on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019.

 She was an amazing wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Originally, from New Orleans, Carmen made Jasper, Ala. her home after marrying her husband, Jack, in 1968. She was known for her quick wit, amazing generosity, and unbelievable cooking. 

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donation to be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Clara and Wallace Alphonso, and brother, Guy Alphonso of New Orleans, La.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jack; son, Mitch; daughter-in-law, Hope; grandson, John Abner of Jasper, Ala.; daughters, Mary Ann of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jeanne; granddaughter, Abby of Issaquah, Wash.; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Jack Brunet of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and brother and sister-in-law, Don and Diane Alphonso of Grover Beach, Calif.
