Carolyn “Sue” Brasfield Brown passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family on January 12, 2018, at the age of 77.
Brown was born on June 7, 1940 in Praco, Alabama to Harry and Willodean Brasfield. She was united in marriage to Homer Pauley Eugene Brown on October 7, 1955 and they shared 62 wonderful years together.
Brown is survived by her husband, Homer; four children, Judi Kitchens (Mike), Denise Huett (Tim), Michael Brown (Kathy), and Paula Sue Gragg (Ace); sisters, Shirley Powell, Barbara Taylor, and Mary Hyche. She was “Granny” to 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends.
Sue “Granny” Brown was devoted to her family and supported, respected, and loved them unconditionally. She took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was loved and adored by each one. Sue cherished her position as #2 of the “Brasfield Sisters” and shared her talents in sewing, cooking, painting, and quilting with many throughout her life.
She was a longtime member of Dora First Baptist Church believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the peace that would await her on her arrival home.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home in Dora. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Pastors Lee Taylor and Ken Mostella will officiate. Burial will follow at New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
