Chick-fil-A to serve free meals to volunteer firefighters today

Posted

Chick-fil-A on Highway 78 in Jasper will be giving away free meals to volunteer firefighters in Walker County today.

Chick-fil-A owner Ruth Grace told the Daily Mountain Eagle Monday that they hold a Volunteer Firefighter Day every three months to support area volunteer firefighters by giving them a hot meal.

Each volunteer firefighter who presents a department badge today from 4 to 8 p.m. will receive one free numbered meal and a chocolate chunk cookie. Curry Fire Rescue has partnered with Chick-fil-A to verify volunteer firefighters who come to the restaurant for a meal are on the Walker County Fire Association’s active volunteer list.

The special discount is limited to one meal per firefighter.

“We want to reward them for their great work and dedication,” Grace said, “because we know they work on a volunteer basis.”

Grace said about 100 firefighters take advantage of the quarterly offering. The free meals are provided through a joint effort between the Chick-fil-A Corporation and Jasper’s Chick-fil-A.
