Church Happenings, Gospel Singings, and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. The deadline to place an event is by noon each Tuesday and Thursday. Special notices

Kelley Cemeter Maintenance Fund Inc. will have its annual meeting Thursday, April 28, at 6 p.m., at the Eldridge Town Hall.

Keeton Cemetery - all flowers need to be removed as soon as possible, for cleanup days, which will be held Saturday, April 23, and Saturday, April 30. The grass will be cut and the rest is up to families. Decoration Day will be Sunday, May 1.

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Parrish has church pews for available for a donation of $30 per pew or best offer. The pews are 8 feet long and in very good condition. The proceeds will go toward the church’s new pews. For more the church’s pastor, Steve Yarbrough, at

Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Pleasant Grove Road in Oakman: Please remove all old flowers so cemetery can be mowed the last week in April.

St. Cecelia Catholic Church at 2159 Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper will have a Yard Sale Saturday, April 16, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m., at the church.

Nauvoo United Methodist Church on 3rd Avenue in Nauvoo will host its Christian Place Mission Food Distribution program Saturday, April 16, from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. For more information, call Carole Newman at 205-410-7029.

Walker County Progressive Baptist District Association Ministers’ Wives Auxiliary will host the 2016 Annual Northwest Ministers’ Wives and Widows Conference Saturday, April 16, at the First Baptist Church-Frisco. Registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 9:15 a.m., with the conference beginning promptly at 10 a.m. Each minister’s wife is asked to represent with a $15 registration fee. Others in attendance will be given a chance to give during the conference. Fee and offering will help Northwest Wing meet financial assessment for State Convention.

Faith Worship Center at 2075 Main Street in Sumiton invites you to a benefit singing (to help purchase a projection system for praise and worship) on Saturday, April 16, at 6 p.m. Guest singers will be Haven Aires and Mike Dyer, along with the church singers and others.

Berry Civic Center will host a Southern Gospel Singing Saturday, April 16, at 6 p.m. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.

Benefit Singing and Cake Auction for Scott Barton, who has underwent open heart surgery and is not able to work, will be held Saturday, April 16, at 6 p.m., at the Natural Bridge Community Centers on Alabama Highway 13 North of the Natural Bridge 4-way stop. Wayne Horton will be the master of ceremonies. Featured gospel singers will be the Calvary Quartet, John Barton, the Day Star Trio and Brady and Kristina Whitten. Concessions will be available. Cordova First Baptist Church will host the southern gospel trio “Exodus” Sunday, April 17, at 6 p.m.


Boldo Cemetery Association is asking that all old flowers be removed by Monday, April 18. Are also in need of doncations to keep the cemetery clean. Send donations to Boldo Cemetery Association, 495 Hardin Road, Jasper, AL 35504.


Studdards Crossroads Community Church will hold a meeting on Saturday, April 23, at 11 a.m., at the church to elect a seven member committee for the cemetery. Anyone with an interested in the cemetery is being urged to attend.


15th Annual Cemetery Preservation Workshop and Annual Membership Meeting will be held Saturday, April 30, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1923 Mt. Olive Road in Gardendale and the historic Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. Registration fee includes conference folder, breakfast sandwiches, refreshments and a box lunch: $25 (ACPA members) and $30 for non-members (general public - includes a one year courtesy membership for first-time attendees). Wilson Chapel CemeteryAnnual Business Meeting will be held Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m., at the cemetery on Myers Road in Nauvoo. Donations for upkeep of cemetery are also being accepted. Make checks payable to Wilson Cemetery Fund and mail to 114 Albert Windham Road, Nauvoo, AL 35578.


Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Oakman will have its Decoration Day Singing, Sunday, May 1, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Lunch from noon until 1 p.m. Guest singers will be EverPraySing and Chosen Road.

New Prospect Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 5 in Jasper will have guest speaker, Dr. Michael Crain, at the morning Worship service on Sunday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m. Will also be have the DVD study “When God’s People Pray” by Jim Cymbala at 4 p.m., and Prayer Ministry at 5 the church’s Lifestudies Christian Life Center.

Elm Grove Church of God will have revival services Sunday, May 1, at 5 p.m., and Monday, May 2, through Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. each night. Guest evangelist will be Brother Matthew Handley.


Jasper AL Algow Community Lighthouse meets every Tuesday, from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m., at LifeSprings Assembly of God located at 2686 Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper. The purpose of the meeting is to gather with others for a time of refreshing, relationship building, networking and community outreach.
