Church Happenings, Gospel Singings, and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. TODAY, MAY 21

Nauvoo United Methodist Church on 3rd Avenue in Nauvoo will host its Christian Place Mission food distribution program today from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. For more information, call Carole Newman at 205-410-7029.

Mackey Boshell Cemetery Association will have an open meeting today at noon at the cemetery. Trustees will be present and everyone is welcome to attend.

Berry Civic Center will host a Southern Gospel singing today, at 6 p.m. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.

Phillips Chapel Holy Church of Christ on Empire Road will have a singing today at 6 p.m., featuring guest singers, Eagles Wings.

New Prospect Baptist Church Drama Team “Trinity in Motion” will present “Heaven” today at 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 22, at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the New Prospect Baptist Church Christian Life Center at 770 Alabama Highway North in Jasper. SUNDAY, MAY 22

Macedonia Baptist Church at the intersection of Macedonia Loop Road and Country Club Road in Curry will host a brotherhood breakfast on Sunday, May 22, at 7 a.m. at the church. Bro. Joe McKeever will be the guest speaker.

Arley First Baptist Church at 1610 Hickory Lane in Arley invites you to its “One Day” revival with special guest evangelist Don Whitt on Sunday, May 22. Morning worship will be at 8 and 10:30 a.m. and evening worship at 6 p.m.

Providence Baptist Church at 2600 Providence Loop Road in Oakman will have its homecoming services Sunday, May 22. No Sunday School. Worship services will begin at 10:30 a.m., with lunch following and a singing at 1:30 p.m., featuring guest singers, the Sharps Quartet.

Mackey Boshell Cemetery Decoration Day will be Sunday, May 22.

Files Cemetery on Alabama Highway 102 in Townley will have its Decoration Day and annual business meeting on Sunday, May 22. Business meeting will be at 1 p.m., at the pavalion on the cemtery property. Bring snacks and drinks.

Maranatha Baptist Church will have the Sumiton Church of God High Praise Senior Adult Choir in concert Sunday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments and fellowship following the service.

MONDAY, MAY 23

Boldo Cemetery Association requests that all flowers on the graves be picked up by Monday, May 23, so they can mow. Flowers on tombstones and vases will not be removed.

SATURDAY, MAY 28

Trinity Church at 2615 Ripley Road (between Alabama Hwy. 118 and Prospect Road) in Carbon Hill will have a benefit yard sale on Saturday, May 28, to help raise money for a new roof for the church. Lots of items and will also be selling BBQ sandwiches, chips and a drink for $6. Will be postponed if raining.

Townley First Baptist Church, Townley Church of God and Townley Free Will Baptist Church invites you to a Community Barbecue on Saturday, May 28, at the Townley Free Will Baptist Church.

Fourth Annual “Out of School” Alternative Jam will be held Saturday, May 28, at Jasper’s A.P. Howell Park beginning at 9 a.m., and featuring several new attractions for the entire family to enjoy. The event is free and includes, Arts and Crafts, Bake Goods, a variety of career/employment recruiting stations, softball, volleyball and basketball tournaments, free food and games, and special guest, Torri Perry, a youth pastor from Atlanta, Georgia.

Hickory Grove Church of the Nazarene on Winston County Road 8 in Black Pond will have its 5th Sunday singing Sunday, May 29, with lunch at noon and singing at 1 p.m. The guest singers will be Bob Spain and Wings of Glory. Dora 2nd Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, May 30, through Friday, June 3, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night for ages 3-19.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston, Alabama will host a gospel singing Saturday, June 4, at 6 p.m., featuring the Rivertown Boys from Conway, South Carolina. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken.

SUNDAY, JUNE 5

Providence Baptist Church at 2600 Providence Loop Road in Oakman will hold its Vacation Bible School “Ocean Commotion” Sunday, June 5, through Friday, June 10, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night from all ages, nursery to adults. Central Baptist Church at 900 Airport Road South in Jasper will hold its Vacation Bible School “The Conquerors” Sunday, June 5, through Thursday, June 9, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m., for ages 4 and up.

Westside Baptist Church will have its Vacation Bible School Monday, June 6, through Friday, June 10, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night for ages 4-12th grade. Dinner served each night.
