Church Happenings, Gospel Singings and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. Aiken Grove Baptist Church on Sipsey Road in Jasper will have Vacation Bible School beginning today, June 8, through Friday, June 10, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. each night. Everyone welcome. Refreshments served following classes.

FRIDAY, JUNE 10

Grays Cemetery in Parrish - please remove all old flowers from gravesites before Friday, June 10.

Jasper Area Sacred Harp will hold its monthly singing the second Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the First Presbyterian Church on 4th Avenue in Jasper. All are welcome. Books will be available. For more information, contact Brenda Chafin at 522-2968.

SATURDAY, JUNE 11

Providence Baptist Church will host its inaugural “Take a Child Fishing” Day on Saturday, June 11, at the Walker County Public Lake, featuring guest speaker, Clay Dyer. No boats - bank fishing only. Lynn Baptist Church will have a benefit singing on Sunday, June 11, at 6 p.m., featuring the Renfroes, with special guest Pure Heart and others, for Alexandria Sue Dean, the daughter of Jeremy and Kala Dean of Lynn, who was born 14 weeks premature and underwent open heart surgery on May 5. Carbon Hill Church of Christ will have a gospel meeting beginning Sunday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. with Friends and Family Day and evening services at 7:30 p.m., and Monday, June 11, through Thursday, June 16, at 7 p.m. nightly. The guest evangelist will be Neil Myers from West Walker Church of Christ.

Phillips Chapel Church will have homecoming Sunday, June 12, with guest singers, Justified. Morning services at 10 a.m., lunch at noon and singing at 1:30 p.m.

New Canaan Baptist Church on Walston Bridge Road in Jasper will have its Vacation Bible School “Ocean Commotion” beginning Sunday, June 12, through Friday, June 16, from 6 until 8 p.m.

MONDAY, JUNE 13

New Zion Baptist Church on Nauvoo-Carbon Hill Road in Nauvoo will have its Vacation Bible School “Children of the Bible” beginning Monday, June 13, through Friday, June 17, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night, for ages 3-years to adults. Meal served at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Grace Missionary Baptist Church at 25861 Alabama Highway 69 North across from Buy Rite in Jasper, will host its Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, June 13, through Friday, June 17, from 6 until 8 p.m. each night. Ocean Commotion is the theme. Come learn about Noah. Pastor Bro. Danny Carter invites everyone from 3 years to 6th grade.

Jasper AL Algow Community Lighthouse meets every Tuesday, from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m., at LifeSprings Assembly of God located at 2686 Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper. The purpose of the meeting is to gather with others for a time of refreshing, relationship building, networking and community outreach. New Hope Cemetery Meeting to be held Saturday, June 19, at 9 a.m. at Pineywoods Fire Department. Topics of discussion will be vaults, grave identity, grave upkeep and garbage. Cemetery committee members are James Aaron, Stacy Aaron, Joel Key and Darwin Bailey.

Nauvoo United Methodist Church on 3rd Avenue in Nauvoo will host its Christian Place Mission Food Distribution program the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until noon at the church. For more information, call Carole Newman at 205-410-7029.

Berry Civic Center will host a Southern Gospel Singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.

Argo First Baptist Church will have its Vacation Bible School “Submerged” beginning Monday, June 20, through Wednesday, June 22, from 6 until 8:30 p.m., for ages K-12.

New Bethany Full Gospel Church of God in Dogtown will have its Vacation Bible School “Submerged” beginning Monday, June 20, through Wednesday, June 23, from 6:15 until 8:30 p.m. each night.

Old Zion United Methodist Church at 1463 Old Zion Road in Jasper will have its Vacation Bible School “Deep Sea Discovery” beginning Monday, June 20, through Friday, June 24, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night, for Grades 1-6.
