Church Happenings, Gospel Singings and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. The deadline to place an event is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. For information, call Elane Jones at 205-221-2840 or email information to elane.jones@mountaineagle.com.

THURSDAY, DEC. 8

River of Living Water United Methodist Ministries (Christ United Methodist Church) at 1401 Jones Dairy Road in Jasper will conduct a 12-step Celebrate Recovery program each Thursday at 7 p.m. A meal and fellowship will be provided at 6 p.m. For more information, call 205-221-3486.

New Prospect Baptist Church at 770 Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper will host a Christmas Bible School on Friday, Dec. 9, from 6 until 8:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, DEC. 10

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will have a free clothes closet giveaway on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 8 a.m. until noon at the church.

Arley First Baptist Church will host the annual Arley Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 5 p.m., with free cocoa and cookies in the Meek Elementary School gym. Anyone who would like participate in the parade needs to line up at the Dollar General parking lot at 4 p.m.

The Oakman Sing will be held Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. at the Oakman Community Center. Featured guest singers will be Crimson Stained, along with the Busby’s.

SUNDAY, DEC. 11

Westside Baptist Church will present the Christmas program “Come Let Us Adore” on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m.

New Prospect Baptist Church’s Sanctuary Choir will present the multimedia presentation of “O Holy Night” on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. during the morning worship service. Guest soloists will be Kara Kinnaird and Jim Trotter. Music directed by Becky Smith.

Cornerstone Assembly of God on Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper will present its Children’s Christmas play “It All Happened In The Country” on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. at the church. Refreshments following the service.

Walker County Mass Choir Holiday Gospel Concert will be Sunday, Dec. 11, at 5:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church located at 2701 Corona Avenue in Jasper.

Friendship Independent Church of God on Blackwell Dairy Road in Jasper will host a singing on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. featuring guest singers, Glory Road.

FRIDAY, DEC. 16

Bevan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 18 will create a live, drive-thru, nativity scene entitled “The Story of Jesus - God’s Gift to the World” on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17, from 6 until 8 p.m. each night. Aiken Grove Baptist Church on Sipsey Road in Jasper will present its Christmas cantata “Swaddling Clothes” on Friday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments following the service.

Westside Baptist Church will present the Children’s Christmas program “Candy Cane Lane” on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m.
