County BOE offers new district app

Posted

The Walker County Board of Education has unveiled a new district app.

The app has been in operation for the past few weeks and gives parents and students a tailored experience to keep up with happenings at their designated school.

App features include the ability to view district and school news and receive important notifications.

Lunch menus can be viewed for each school through the app, and parents can manage lunch accounts for their children as well.

The app also includes an activity stream of school social media accounts and access to the district handbook. Student transcripts can also be viewed through the app, and students have access to an e-library.

A number of other app features are available as well.

“We are one of a handful of districts to have one. It is a lot quicker to get notifications versus call outs,” Walker County Schools Technology Director Patrick Gann said.

The app is free and available for Android and iPhone users and can be found by searching Walker County AL Schools.

Once the app is downloaded, users are prompted to select which schools they want to follow and have the ability to set up notifications.
