The Walker County Commission provided level funding for its departments in a budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year that was approved on Monday.

The commission also granted a $30,000 funding request from the Walker County Economic and Industrial Development Authority as part of the budget.

Commissioners held two work sessions in recent weeks to discuss the budget with department heads.

Also on Monday, commissioners approved approximately $400,000 in budget amendments for the fiscal year that ends Sept. 30.

The General Fund amendments covered salaries, overtime and fuel at the sheriff’s department, equipment at the jail and repairs at the courthouse.

Also on Monday, commissioners approved a performance grant for the Walker County Emergency Management Agency in the amount of $7,058 and gave attorney Eddie Jackson the authority to consult with the state Attorney General’s office on bid laws concerning a contract with AT&T that has been in dispute for several months.
