Dayron Miller "Wookie" Brown Jr., 65 years old of Cordova, went to be with the Lord on Sept 9, 2018. He passed at 2:35 p.m. at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, while surrounded by his family.
Wookie was born May 2, 1953 from his mother, Flossie West Brown and father, Dayron Brown Sr.
He is survived in his passing by his wife of 46 years, Judy Ann Brown; brother, William Brown (Jan Brown); daughter, Sallie Woods (Charles Woods); three sons, Dayron Daniel Brown, Matthew Wade Brown (Tiffany Brown), and Jacob Miller Brown; and eight grandchildren, Jerrica Woods, Savanna Woods, Garrett Woods, Clara Ann Brown, Dani Beth Brown, Matilyn Brown, Ella Brown, and John Daniel Brown.
He worked as a coal miner in the area for nearly 40 years. Wookie was full of life like no other. He was one of the most selfless people that would give you the shirt off his back if needed. Those that knew him best would tell you they could sit for hours and listen to his stories. To us his family, we lived those stories with him. He loved to laugh, hear a good joke and share his humor with whoever would hear, but above all he loved his family and never missed an opportunity to let us know. There will never be another Wookie Brown. You will always be our HERO pop. We love you and will always miss you.
There will be a memorial service on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Collins Burke Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
