Justin Dyar's success on selling homes for Smith Lake has been extensive enough that he has been featured on a couple of episodes of "Lakefront Bargain Hunt" on HGTV, filmed four years ago and used over time.
"They are constantly looking for new material. It has to be the right fit, the right client, the right price, the right area. Once you put all that together, it's not real easy to get people to do that," he said. "But I've literally sold things that I can prove from that show.
"I sold a house to a lady from Colorado. I asked her, 'How did you find out about the lake?' She said, 'I saw you on TV.'" The woman said the house, on the Jasper side, was a bargain compared to anything else she had seen.
The show looks at the average consumer, between $300,000 and $400,000 range, which he said is perfect for him. "People are shocked when they call me from out of state, and they say, 'You can really buy that house for that much? Is that fake?'" he said.
"The show is real," he said. "Now, some of the stuff they show is not 100 percent accurate, but the pricing, the house, they are all 100 percent. The people are real. Now the way you go through them, that's not all exactly the way it was. But I wouldn't have done it if it was something misleading."
