Frog Festival set for Saturday

Sumiton’s 11th annual Frog Festival will be held on Saturday.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., people can visit Sumiton’s Main Street and see a variety of vendors and musical acts or ride different rides at the festival’s first carnival area.

“It’s going to be bigger and better than it was last year,” Mayor Petey Ellis said.

Debora Garrison, an organizer who’s been working on the Frog Festival since its inception, said everything is coming together really well this year.

There will be approximately 170 vendors and around 220 booths, with some vendors utilizing multiple booth spaces.

Garrison added, If you want it, “we’ve got it” in regards to the variety of vendors featured this year. There will be vendors selling food, purses, soaps, honey, jewelry, clothing and woodworking, among other things.

There’s also going to be just one music stage this year. The Pepsi Stage will showcase the talents of several local musicians, as well as other acts.

Performers include:

•9 to 10 a.m. - Shelbie Z

•10 to 10:20 a.m. - Bronson Hadder

•10:30 to 11:30 a.m. - T.K. & the Right Pieces

•11:30 a.m. to noon - Showstoppers Dance

•noon to 1 p.m. - The Griffith Family

•1 to 1:20 p.m. - Skylar Valenta

•1:30 to 2:30 p.m. - The Kool Katz

•3 to 4 p.m. - The Sassy Brown Band

The stage will be located in the center of town, near where the playground area has been in years past.

However, instead of a kids’ playground area, there will be a carnival in that space this year. It will feature approximately eight rides, such as a ferris wheel, swings and a merry-go-round.

While entrance to the Frog Festival is free, there will be a fee to ride the carnival rides.

Golf carts will be available to shuttle Frog Festival goers back and forth from the parking areas to Main Street.

Garrison encouraged everyone to “come on down and have a good time!”
