Grady Ray Bevis, 87, of Jasper, passed away at his residence on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 31, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Collins Burke Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens. Thad Hawkins, Kenneth Salters and Randy Key will officiate.
PFC Bevis served in the US Army Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was stationed at the 38th Parallel and earned service medal W/3 BZ Camp Stars, United Nations Service Medal and Army OCC Medal (Japan). He retired from the Jasper Fire Department after 22 years of service as Captain.
He was devoted to his family and brothers and sisters in God. Ray loved his Lord and his church, where he served as deacon since 1955 and member of the Gideon International for close to 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilburn Bevis; mother, Minnie Henson Bevis; sisters, Eunice Bevis and Dorothy Bevis Wilson; brothers, Alton Bevis and J.V. Bevis; brother-in-law, Willard Wilson; and sisters-in-law, Retha Bevis and Erma Bevis.
Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evelyn Glasgow Bevis; daughter, Angela Bevis Paul and husband Timothy; and grandchildren, Aislinn Tudor, Seth Edgil and Rylee Taylor.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Gideon’s or any other Christian organization in memory of Grady Ray Bevis.
