Granvil "Lamar" Lane

Granvil “Lamar” Lane, 83, of Jasper, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 23, 2020, at his residence.

A memorial graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Arley.

Mr. Lane was known saying to each lady he would come in contact with as “Hello Miss America." He never met a stranger, saying “You’re a friend i just met today.” He owned and opreated Lamar's Landscaping and Nursery from 1970 to 2010. He also owned and operated Lamar's Tree Service and Firewood from 1970 to present time.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Lamar Lane; father, Carl Reece Lane; mother, Jessie Corrine Lane; sisters, Ruby Dean Lane Farley Burgess and Adrie Lane; brothers, Chales Evanes Lane, Robert "Bobby"  Carl Lane and Frankie A. Lane; grandsons, Landon Robert Lane and Levi Jacob Whittle; and great-grandchildren, Doyle Riley Barnes, and Kaylynn Grace Drinkert.

He is survived by his children, James Deron Lane, Elva June Kennedy (Randy), Debra Ann Macon (Roger Dale), Anthony Carl Lane, Stephanie Lynn McKinney, Eric Allen Lane (Yan) and Blake Braxton Lane; brothers, Terry Haynes Lane (Selina) and Venson Ernest Lane “ Chucky” (Barbara); sisters, Norma Ethel Estill and Jeanne “Carlette” Eaddy (Perry); 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends.
