Hillfest set for this weekend

Posted

Carbon Hill’s annual Hillfest celebration is set for this Friday and Saturday and will feature live music, vendors and bouncy houses and games for kids.

In addition, there will be a cruise-in in the Bill and Sons parking lot on Friday evening. Line up is at 5 p.m. with the cruise-in beginning at 6 p.m.

“We would love to have people come and cruise their old cars,” said Anita Wood, the Hillfest 2016 chairperson.

Wood added that today is the last day to register for the cruise-in and those interested in participating can contact her.

A variety of vendors will be on hand at Hillfest selling crafts, jewelry, clothing, flags, college sport-themed items and food, including barbecue, snow cones and funnel cakes.

There will also be several musical acts performing on both days.

On Friday evening, the Past Time Travelers will play from 5 to 7 p.m. and Road Trip Jones will play from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday will feature the Unchained Drama Team, Born to Fly, J.J. Hadder, Shelbie Z, My Father’s Keeper and Kerry, with performances beginning at noon.

“We hope we have a good turnout and that everyone has a good time,” Wood said. “There will be a good selection of vendors and live music. I just want people to come and enjoy everything Hillfest has to offer this year.”
