CORDOVA — A Jasper man has been charged in a burglary at a Cordova business on Christmas Eve.

Michael Richard Allen, 49, was arrested Wednesday and charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree theft of property for taking approximately $500 from the Texaco Food and Fuel on Horse Creek Boulevard.

According to Chief Nick Smith, Officer Ray Goggans responded to an alarm call at the Texaco after business hours on Christmas Eve and determined that someone had used a key to enter the store.

Allen was identified as a suspect following an investigation by Officer Krimson Culverson. He confessed the crime to Smith after he was brought in for questioning.

According to Smith, Allen and a second individual entered the store using a key obtained from a former employee at the Texaco.

A second arrest is expected in the case.
